Church History
Southern Baptist Church was formed under the leadership of Brother Henry Johnson, former pastor of Cloverdale Baptist Church. The first worship service was in July, 1982. On July 26, 1987, the church voted to change the name to Pathway Baptist Church.
Ridgecrest Baptist Church voted to donate the land on Flowers Chapel Road to build a church building. The ground breaking was on November 7, 1990.
Men of the church worked together to build the church building, which included the present sanctuary and fellowship hall. The first worship service was held on August 4, 1991.
The church voted for offerings from the 3rd Sunday of each month to go toward the note on the building. This was the same time the church began having the 3rd Sunday fellowship meals.
On May 17, 1998, Dr. Jeff Ross became the pastor. Soon after, plans were made to increase the church facilities.
On January 30, 2000, the note was burned to celebrate the final payment on the existing building.
On February 13, 2000, the ground breaking service was held to begin construction of the new educational wing and administrative offices. The offices in the existing building were renovated to enlarge the fellowship hall for the growing number of members.
Dr. Jeff Ross was called to take a leadership position with our association in June 2007. Brother Ronnie Smith is now the pastor of Pathway Baptist Church and we are experiencing the Lord working in our midst. We are moving forward and we know that every yesterday is history. We want to continue to be led and lead others along the path of becoming more like Jesus.
